It's been gloomy these past few days in our part of the world here in Temple, Texas. This, however, did not stop DH and me from going to Lion's Park to walk/bike/picnic. I was not brave enough to go biking myself so I just took a long walk while DH went biking to exercise his legs. He had knee surgery a month ago and was advised by his physical therapist to ride a bicycle.
It's less than a month before it's officially springtime. I can't wait to see leaves growing on trees. Thank God it's not freezing anymore. I'm happy being able to venture again outside without fearing the cold.
This is the part that I loved the most about our afternoon. Just being able to read leisurely. Not thinking about anything; savoring the printed words in front of me. I used to devour books like there's no tomorrow. Now, I'm lucky if I get to finish a book in a month. I'm definitely going to create a home environment that is conducive to reading for our Tala. I hope she grows up loving books like I do.
DH being silly. We just brought whatever we can grab from the fridge.
We have four months before our world turns upside down by Tala's arrival. So we're taking advantage of whatever little pockets of freedom and relaxation we can get before that day comes.
So there goes our Saturday. Simple, fancy-free, but nevertheless enjoyable. I'm thankful for days like these. It's nice to wind down every once in a while to appreciate the world around us.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend!

It's a Girl!
I had my level II ultrasound last February 10 and thankfully, everything's fine. The doctor said that instead of being on my 19th week of pregnancy, I might be just in my 18th week. I'll find out for sure on my check-up next month.
We also found out that we're having a baby girl. We're naming her Tala. It's an old Filipino word for "star." I've always loved how the name sounds. Now, we have to think of a second name that goes with Tala.
Here she is, our little jelly bean.

Valentine's Day
I hope everyone had a nice valentine be it with a spouse, someone special, loved ones, or friends. I know valentine shouldn't really be a big deal since we're supposed to appreciate the ones we love every single day anyway, but it still wouldn't hurt if we decide to do something big or small to commemorate the day.
DH and I did not do anything fancy, but we did have fun. We had lunch at an indian restaurant where we always go when we're craving for some indian dishes. We didn't wanna go out at night when restaurants are crowded so we started our little celebration early. After lunch, we stopped by Barnes and Noble to pick books. I got Freedom by Jonathan Franzen since I've heard so many good things about it. I told DH I'd rather have books than flowers (a sure sign that I'm getting old...gasp). They didn't have Just Kids by Patti Smith so I'll just order it online.
In turn, I gave him a collage that I made of some of the places that we've been to as a couple. I included a cartoon pop-up of ourselves that was part of our wedding invitation back in 2008.
Here's DH holding my gift for him.

We capped our date by watching the movie, Just Go with It, starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. It was surprisingly funnier than I thought it would be. So by 5:00 pm we were ready to go home just like we planned. What a bunch of oldies. Hehehe
Oh...and DH spotted these lovebirds celebrating their own valentine too. So cute!
